Players can experience both coop and competitive games

Video game developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony are announcing that they are delivering three new maps to all those who are playing Killzone: Shadow Fall in order to spice up their game experience, with all of them offered for free as a reward for their long-term commitment to the shooter.

On the official PS Blog, Jeroen Roding, a community manager at the studio, says that they are designed to introduce some interesting new challenges for players.

The Status is one of the competitive multiplayer maps, centered on a massive Scolar Visari memorial statue that’s being rebuilt by the Helghast after a terror attack, featuring a lot of equipment and building materials.

Guerrilla Games states, “Choose your base exit carefully on this map, as there are many different routes providing fast and easy access to all extremes of the combat area. The warren of interconnecting rooms will allow for clever flanking manoeuvres once you know your way around, and you can gain an additional advantage by maintaining control of the large mechanical doors.”

The ATAC Tower serves as a base for drone operations that are used to stop Vektan attackers and defectors, so the VSA is aiming to take control of the location and then send special codes back to the headquarters.

Killzone: Shadow Fall also encourages cooperation

Those who are tired of competitive multiplayer modes can access the new Canal map for the Guerrilla Games-made shooter, which includes an abandoned hydroelectric power plant that has been reclaimed by nature and filled with junk.

The team states, “A key VSA informant used one of the abandoned treatment facilities along the banks as a hideout before disappearing, so now it’s up to Intelligence Squad Alpha to send the collected intel back to Vekta. But it won’t be easy – Helghast security has discovered the hideout as well, and they’ll do anything to prevent Alpha from establishing an uplink.”

Gamers who want to experience the ATAC Tower and The Canal content will need to have the Intercept add-on for Killzone: Shadow Fall.

The shooter was one of the launch titles for the PlayStation 4 home console and performed well, with one third of early platform adopters also getting the title.

It’s unclear for how long the team at Guerrilla Games plans to continue delivering content for it and whether a sequel for the franchise is being worked on at the moment.
