Killzone: Mercenary, the new first-person shooter for the PlayStation Vita, has a massive day one update that weighs in at 1.2GB and takes the amount of space needed by the digital version of the game to 4.5GB.

Killzone: Mercenary is out later today, September 4, in Europe, and apparently Sony has already deployed a massive patch for the game in order add "stability fixes and performance optimization," according to TSA.

The update, however, occupies a large amount of space – 1190MB – which means that those who got the digital version of the game, which occupies 3.3GB, will need to have a total of 4.5GB of free space.

Those who get the retail edition will still need space on the Vita's memory card to download the 1.2GB update.

Sony confirmed that the both the PlayStation Vita and the memory cards have lowered prices, in order to make it easier to get the console or accessories for it.
