The Killzone franchise is celebrating this week its 10-year anniversary, and in order to mark the occasion in a proper manner, developer Guerrilla Games confirms that quite a few great things are coming to the latest entry in the series – Killzone: Shadow Fall – in the form of DLC and other events.

Sony owns quite a lot of big franchises that are maintained by its internal studios. For the release of the PS4 last year, the large corporation once again went to Guerrilla Games and asked the Dutch team to create a new entry in the long-running Killzone franchise, which first saw light on the PS2 back in November of 2004.

10 years have passed since then, and the first-person shooter series has gone on to command a loyal fan following through many different games across other PlayStation devices like the PSP, PS Vita, PS3, or PS4, and even a toy line, a novel, and a manga.

"We’re very proud of how far we’ve come, and to mark this joyous occasion we’re going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Killzone with the people who made it all possible – you, our loyal fans. We have several content releases planned for Killzone Shadow Fall in the pipeline, as well as live playthroughs, interviews, tournaments and more," the studio says on the PS blog.

Free and premium DLC is coming to Shadow Fall

Now, in order to ensure that Killzone: Shadow Fall owners on PS4 enjoy the 10-year celebration, developer Guerrilla confirms that an array of free and premium DLC is coming for the popular game.

First up, there's a premium 10th Anniversary Expansion Pack that includes all sorts of new customization options for the Shadow Fall multiplayer mode. There are two skins for your characters, two skins for your OWL drone, two new voice packs, and two new player card icon packs. A new crosshair customization system that includes seven different sets is also a part of the DLC.

The 10th Anniversary expansion pack for Shadow Fall is available right now and Season Pass owners can get it for free.

Regular owners of the game can still enjoy some free DLC that includes an overhauled version of Killzone 2 fan favorite map Academy, as well as two new levels for the cooperative Intercept mode.

Various events, contests, and celebrations will be organized throughout the month of November, so look forward to hearing more about the Killzone franchise.
