Amazon has confirmed its acquisition of video game developer Double Helix, as part of their game-related strategy for the near future.

Amazon already owns a game development studio, which for now only focused on mobile games such as Air Patriots and Airport Mania HD Free, and the company is also rumored to be working on creating an Android based console to rival major players such as Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.

Double Helix was founded in 2007 via a merger between The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, and so far its most noteworthy titles are Silent Hill Homecoming, three movie tie-ins alongside work on other popular IPs, Killer Instinct and the recent reboot of classic platformer Strider.

Apparently, a Microsoft spokesperson mentioned that the company would be working on Killer Instinct for Xbox One with a new development partner, as Polygon reported.
