There is not one opportunity in which the paparazzi got to snap Victoria Beckham looking other than the epitome of trendiness. According to many, be them fashion insiders or not, Posh Spice is the spitting image of a runway model transposed on the streets of LA, what with her impeccable dresses, trendy hats and killer heels. Her recent outing, however, has prompted health experts to warn women of the dangers of emulating her style, since her favorite five-inch stilettos can completely ruin the foot.

Out with her boys to visit a theme park, Victoria did not ditch her trademark stiff style, even if it meant staggering behind her children in her Louboutin creations. At five inches (12.5cm), these shoes may look good on any woman, making the leg fabulous and elegant, but the health risks they imply are also significant, while also doing nothing for the wearer in terms of comfort. This is all the more true if they are worn on a daily basis, such as is the case with Victoria, health experts say.

“High heels push the body forward, forcing the hips and spine out of alignment. This altered posture places excess force on the inside of the knee, a common site for osteoarthritis in women. Calf muscles may contract and shorten with regular wear. Narrow toe space in shoes can thicken the nerve between the third and fourth toes, leading to pain and numbness. It can also bend the smaller toes at the middle joint. Eventually, they become impossible to straighten. Regular wear contracts the Achilles tendon, leading to heel pain. High heels impair balance. Wearers are at a greater risk of falling, which could lead to a sprained or broken ankle.” experts explain for the British publication the Daily Mail.

Louboutin shoes are as famous for their looks and quality as they are for the minimum degree of comfort they come with. They are high and very narrow in front, which means the foot rests in a very unnatural position inside it. This is why Victoria is said to always choose one size larger shoes for a bit more comfort, although this undoubtedly makes walking in them all that much harder. She is also oblivious to the above-mentioned risks she daily exposes herself to by wearing such killer heels because, as she has often put it, she “cannot get [her] head around” flats or sportswear.

Victoria Beckham also credits heels with keeping so fit, often saying that running errands in them keeps her in top shape. She would, though, go to a gym to work out too, but, again, since she cannot even bear the thought of flats or snickers and heels are not an option, she has finally accepted that it will never happen.
