Open Mobile Media Ltd has announced that this year’s Open Mobile Summit will be featuring the most influential people in mobile, media and apps as speakers between 8-9 June in London where the key topic will be how to stop Apple in their tracks.

People like Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, and Olaf Swantee, EVP, Orange will be meeting in London two months from now to discuss the best way to build and monetize the open mobile Internet, Open Mobile Media said.

The group promoting openness, however, mentions Apple as an obstacle towards achieving this.

“This is critical as everyone in the industry looks to provide a viable alternative to Apple’s closed application ecosystem,” Open Mobile Media said, “as Google’s Android gains market share - and as smartphones, tablets and connected TVs drive apps to the cloud.”

Open Mobile Summit exec producer Robin Batt provides a statement of his own, saying that “The mobile internet revolution has only just begun.”

The man acknowledges that “Apple took the mobile industry by storm in 2008, but now other major players are getting wise to the opportunity.”

Batt expects the market to shift dramatically again this year.

Batt and fellow Open Mobile Media execs believe they’ve invited “potential game changers” to the summit, naming Nokia’s CEO and Amazon’s app store lead as some of the most important guests.

Other high-profile speakers will include leading operators, tablet contenders and html5 protagonists. All of them are listed in the speaker line-up at the Open Mobile Summit site.

The Summit will take place 8-9 June at the Victoria Park Plaza in London. Early bird discounts end on Easter Friday, the organizers say.
