Kirsten Dunst is really making it hard for us to love her: in her movies, she always comes off as this sexy/innocent young girl, with an incredible smile and dreaming eyes. Of course, you know all too well why this happens: it's all about the lighting, the camera angles and the special effects and it's not something that actors shy away from doing. It's all about the 'illusion' of the cinema...
In real life, Kirsten is far from that sweet girl she plays on screen: aside from the fact that she simply can't stand the paparazzi (can't say I blame her, though), she must be one of the most fashion-challenged young celebrities in all Hollywood. Sometimes, she manages to hide her 'handicap'. Other times, she doesn't and she goes out looking like, well, I guess you have eyes for yourself to see. Plus, although she is very young, dear Kiki also has a very high opinion of herself - otherwise, no one can explain why she said 'Spider-Man' would be nothing without herself.
And, speaking of 'Spider-Man', the third installment just premiered in Madrid yesterday and look what the cat drag in. Seriously now, Kirsten really looks like something a cat would drag in: apparently, without the aide of a stylist, the actress donned this gorgeous beige ensemble, a la librarian style, matched with a similarly severe hairdo and shoes. Don't forget that she pulled this number for a press conference and a screening of 'Spider-Man', the movie everybody is simply dying to see these days.
I don't know what made Kirsten think she could actually wear such a thing - granted she didn't want to fall into that category of actors who pimp themselves up for the premiere of their movie with their 'Sunday clothes', her outfit isn't even sexy or anything. Even more, it's something that even my grandma would avoid wearing because she, unlike Kiki, knows that monochromatic outfits are soooo last year! Plus, she looks like crap in it...
Just to make matters only worse, here is how Kirsten looked a day before the Madrid photo shoot, as she was attending the premiere of 'Spider-Man' in Rome. Now, that's what anyone in their right minds would call classy without too much trying! By putting on this summery yet chic dress, the actress managed to look really nice while not giving the impression that she spent the last couple of hours looking in the mirror. Obviously, it's her hair and make-up that do that...
These being said, I'm not quite sure if there's enough evidence to put Kirsten Dunst for good on the walking fashion disasters list. Apparently, she has what it takes to look good but, unless she changes her attitude and realizes that being tastefully dressed and looking great is all just a question of will, I'm afraid we're gonna have to include her on the already mentioned list. I guess only time can tell now...
