Kiefer Sutherland will be charged with assault for attacking designer Jack McCollough

Yesterday, it emerged that Kiefer Sutherland’s explosive temperament had made another victim in the person of designer Jack McCollough, who was bunted at a Met Gala after-party. Initial reports had it that Sutherland’s violent reaction was prompted by the designer intentionally knocking over Brooke Shields, but a DA might not really care about that, as TMZ reports.

According to the celebrity gossip website / paparazzi agency, the “24” star will be shortly charged with crime – misdemeanor assault, for attacking the photographer without provocation. Moreover, the first steps in this direction have already been made, and Kiefer is bound to present himself to the LAPD to get a ticket and have his arraignment date set one of these days.

“Kiefer will show up at the NYPD and get a desk appearance ticket and his arraignment date will be set. A rep from the L.A. City Attorney’s office tells TMZ they will contact the NYPD and the D.A. to get details and then decide if they will try and revoke Kiefer’s probation. He’s currently on probation for a DUI.” the same e-zine says. Up to this point, Sutherland has refused to talk to the media about the attack, and what might have caused it. He has also turned a deaf ear on speculation that he was drunk the night of the altercation and was only trying to find someone to vent on.

As we also wrote yesterday, Sutherland reportedly told cops at the glitzy event that he knocked the designer out because he had brushed past Brooke Shields, possibly even shaking her up a bit. Reportedly, the actor went to McCullough and demanded that he apologized to Shields, and only afterwards resorted to bunt him, when he failed to comply.

On the other hand, Brooke Shields’ rep said yesterday that the designer had not injured his client in any way, basically hinting that Sutherland was acting erratically – but not in Shields’ defense. McCollough, on his part, has already issued a statement saying he did nothing of the sort to provoke Kiefer. For more on this, keep an eye on this space.
