A “24” movie never happened but, on May 5, fans will be getting the next big thing, as agent Jack Bauer returns on the small screen once more to fight crime and save the world, in a 12-episode new iteration of the hit series “24,” called “24: Live Another Day.”

The action of the new series is set in London, which is also where it was shot. Right now, leading man Kiefer Sutherland is busy with reshoots and he admits in a new interview with the local media that he’s feeling uncharacteristically nervous about this project.

In case you’re not familiar with “24,” a bit of context: the series was a hit when it aired on Fox, breaking ratings records from its premiere in 2001 until its big finale in 2010. Bringing the story to the big screen would have been perfect because it would have allowed fans more time with their favorite character.

Sadly, this never happened, but the fans at least got something in return for their years of patient waiting, when the new iteration was announced. Sutherland is well aware of the kind of expectations pinned on it, which makes him wary.

“The fear of not having it fulfil all of its potential is massive,” he says. “We all feel a huge sense of responsibility to the show. There was this great sense of accomplishment when we finished the eight seasons of the show and it’s a character that has changed my life in many ways. People will judge for better or for worse but yeah, there’s a lot of nervousness on my behalf.”

“24: Live Another Day” will premiere in a few days’ time. Will you be tuning in to see Jack Bauer back?
