Never mess with Beyonce, or you will get in a lot of trouble with her fans, known collectively as the Beyhive. They’re fiercely loyal and protective of Queen Bey, and they’re not always the nicest. This time, though, they’re taking down a “foe” in the cutest manner possible.

Kid Rock is featured in this month’s Rolling Stone cover story, promoting his upcoming tour. He’s known for criticizing mainstream pop acts whether on stage or in interviews, so his comment on how Beyonce’s popularity is baffling to him shouldn’t really come as such a big surprise.

But it does.

She’s irrelevant and she’s not even that hot

Speaking with the music publication, Kid Rock confesses to being thoroughly confused by the fact that Beyonce is hailed as one of the greatest singers and entertainers on earth. If you ask him, she’s really not that great, whichever way you look at it.

We’ll edit the F-bombs out of his comment, but here it is, to better understand the Beyhive’s wrath:

“Beyonce, to me, doesn't have a [expletive]-ing ‘Purple Rain,’ but she's the biggest thing on Earth. How can you be that big without at least one ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ or ‘Old Time Rock & Roll’? People are like, ‘Beyonce’s hot. Got a nice [expletive]-ng [butt].’ I'm like, ‘Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big [breasts].’ Doesn't really [expletive]-ing do much for me.”

Cue the “oh no you didn’t!” angry responses.

Kid Rock is entitled to his opinion regarding Beyonce’s hotness or lack thereof, but saying she doesn’t have an iconic song like those two he mentions is off-base. He’s trying to make it sound as if her popularity is based entirely on hype and no substance, and that’s not the case.

Beyhive attacks, floods him with honeybee emoji

The Beyhive’s most recent feat was taking down allegedly unretouched photos of their idol, which had leaked and were posted online on a Beyonce fansite. The Beyhive doesn’t appreciate when people make fun of their idol, even if only for the stupid reason that she’s only human and looks less flawless in photos before Photoshop.

So obviously, they couldn’t just sit back and let Kid Rock have a go at Queen Bey without having him feel the sting. Literally.

As of now, most of his Instagram posts, both recent and older, are being flooded with the famous honeybee emoji in the comments. Some bees have also made his way on his Twitter feed, in replies to his promotional announcements, but they don’t look as good as they do on Instagram.

Beyonce fans also want him to know that the only reason people are coming over to his Instagram is because they’re attacking him with cuteness, just so he doesn’t get the wrong impression that he’s that important.

The gallery below includes samples of the “attack.” But don’t think that Kid Rock is allowing the Beyhive to cause a mess on his own social media account and not fight back: his most recent Instagram photo is of a can of flying insects repellant. It doesn’t come with a caption but, really, does it need one?
