The 11-year-old boy dressed like the protagonist of erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” to mark World Book Day

Yesterday, March 5, was World Book Day. To mark the event, children all around the globe were encouraged by their teachers to come to school dressed like their absolute favorite literary characters.

Word has is that the celebration turned out to be a huge success pretty much everywhere. Well, everywhere except in the small town of Sale in Greater Manchester, UK.

Here, an 11-year-old boy gave teachers the shock of a lifetime when he showed up for classes dressed like Christian Grey, the protagonist of the erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

How does one dress like Christian Grey?

We're going to go out on a limb here and assume that 11-year-old Liam Scholes did not go to school in a private helicopter or dragging big bags of cash behind him.

As shown in the photos accompanying this article, the boy merely put on a nice grey suit - because, you know, he was supposed to be Christian Grey - and styled his hair to get the perfect business do.

Just by looking at his suit and his neatly arranged hairdo, it would have been almost impossible to tell whom the kid was trying to impersonate. Which is probably why the boy made sure to bring props.

In a nutshell, 11-year-old Liam Scholes brought a black eye mask and a couple of cable ties with him. He did not try to use them on anybody, but the mere sight of these items made his teachers freak out.

The boy's mother insists that, because of his choice of costume, the kid was excluded from all school activities on World Book Day. His teachers claim that the only thing they did was to alter his costume.

“The student was not excluded from taking part in any of the activities as has been wrongly reported,” reads a statement issued by the Sale High School.

“His costume was modified and he was then able to fully participate and enjoy the day with his peers,” the 11-year-old boy's teachers further detail how this incident played out.

There was nothing wrong with the costume, the mother says

36-year-old Nicola Scholes, the boy's mother, explains that it was Liam himself who had the idea to dress like Christian Grey and that she let him because she saw nothing wrong with it, BuzzFeed reports.

The woman claims that one of the teachers showed up as serial killer Dexter for World Book Day and that there is no reason murder should be accepted in the school environment while erotic tales are dismissed.

What's interesting is that, according to 36-year-old Nicola Scholes, each and every of her young boy's colleagues had no trouble figuring out whom he was impersonating the moment he walked through the school's doors.
