Kid Contacts Santa Claus via FaceTime at His Local Best Buy — TV Ad

Best Buy is taking cues from Apple’s marketing materials promoting its store’s offerings for the Christmas shopping season. And what better way to do that if not with genuine Apple products? Featuring a cute kid who is clearly in love with everything Apple, the Best Buy commercial mentions the iPhone (with Siri), the MacBook Air, and the iPad. Trying to reach Santa to no avail, the young protagonist is advised to try and FaceTime Claus at his North Pole address. As he pulls the display closer, the light from the screen colors his face red, signifying that Santa has indeed answered his call. It’s a nice touch on behalf of Best Buy, and there’s a clear resemblance to Apple’s own commercials too. How can I do this with my facetime? I think it would be an awesome way to get my cousins in the holiday spirit, especially spirits on the East Coast are so low this year:(

Unless there is an actual way to FaceTime Santa (which I have yet to find) the commercial is misleading and is disappointing children everywhere, kinda cruel if you ask me...

I completely agree! My god son saw it and now wants to FaceTime Santa and I'm trying to find out how. But all I keep finding are these articles and I think it's ridiculous. How am I supposed to explain to him that even though that little boy in the commercial was able to, he can't. I'm hoping they set something up or I'm going to be kinda mad

I think this ad sucks, simply because now my kids want to do this and, you know what??? This FaceTime Santa thing doesn't exist! Thanks for screwing us best buy!

Misleading! As I am trying to find Santa on FaceTime from my iPad for my daughter...they should have actually set it up to do this!!! She just saw the commercial and knows what face timing is.

Great marketing - now my kid wants to know why they can't facetime Santa. How do I explain why the kid in the commercial gets to facetime Santa and she can't - Thaks a lot Best Buy!

SET IT UP! You're disappointing every kid who sees the ad as well as Grandmas like ME! I won't buy at Best Buy!

If I had a kid who had seen this ad and wanted me to contact Santa through my ipad facetime app, I would be boycotting Best Buy this holiday season (maybe longer) and then suing them for damages to my child's psyche and my nerves once the kid goes on an endless rampage because he/she wants to facetime with Santa like the kid in the ad! Bad taste Best Buy...very bad indeed. Bah Humbug

I agree with every post below! Wth, Best Buy?! My daughter asked why 'that little boy gets to FaceTime with Santa', but she can't! Thanks a lot for making out kids feel like they aren't important enough to FaceTime Santa!!!

My seven year old son and three year old niece sat down today to FaceTime Santa, I can't even to begin to explain their disapointment. I can't believe they would put out a commercial and not follow through for the children of the world.

This is Crap! I am trying to figure out a way to explain to my son why he can't FaceTime Santa but the boy in the commercial can. Best Buy you need to make this right!!!

Agreed...very rude...I saw the commercial and MISTAKENLY told my kids come on, lets Facetime Santa. After not being able to come across how to do it, found this article that its not possible. How misleading!!! Especially when the boy in the commercial can't get to Santa and the Best Buy worker tells him to Facetime Santa, making us think it really works!!!!! RUDE!!!
