It doesn't take up more space in a bag than a normal trail map

Too much luggage can really ruin a field trip, especially when hiking up a mountain trail, so Vertex Outdoors, a startup station in Austin, Texas, invented a very thin and light backpacking stove.

And by thin and light we mean very thin and light. After all, the thing is called Vertex Ultralight Backpacking Stove for a reason.

Its total weight is of 1.8 ounces, or 50 grams, while the size is of 4.84 x 2.87 x 3.0 inches / 122 x 73 x 76 mm when assembled.

More importantly, though, the thing is about as big as a trail map when folded. That's right, it basically takes up no space in your pack.

And speaking of packs, it comes with its own carrying bag, so even if some soot, or whatever else, sticks to it after use, you don't have to worry that it'll dirty the rest of your stuff.

Fuel tablets are the recommended fuel, but the Trangia Spirit Burner is supported as well, if you're familiar with it.

That said, the minimalist stove can really help make your camping stops alive. It has no moving parts and is assembled in seconds, thanks to its patent-pending curved design.

It also supports both big and small cooking pots, with minimum diameter being of 3.5 inches / 89 mm. Yet, it can boil 16 ounces (454 ml) of water in six to eight minutes, all on a single fuel tablet.

To get one, all you need to do is pledge $50 / €37 - €50 on Kickstarter in order to secure one of these Vertex Ultralight Backpacking Stoves. The surprisingly small goal of $8,000 / €5,849 has already been attained.

You still have until February 16 to do it, assuming you're a US resident. Sure, the product will enter retail after that, at some point, but the price will probably be higher.
