Some thought that it was impressive to finally see 3D scanners in action, but the small team at ike has something even more amazing: smartphone 3D scanning.

Although that's not how they're advertising it, and it's not exactly something you can use to build replicas of paintings, brush strokes and all.

Instead, it is a laser accurate smartphone accessory that can measure, map, 3D model and photograph any object up to 200 yards / 182 meters away.

Spike stands for Smart Phone ike and it is a laser device that attaches to your phone and enhances its ability to take snapshots.

To do so, it merges the assets of a digital camera, a laser range finder, a GPS and a 3D compass.

Just make sure you have a spare pocket to carry it in. It shouldn't be larger than the phone itself, but not any smaller either. Head to Kickstarter to pledge your support if you want.
