Kickstarter is the crowdfunding platform that many aspiring video game developers have recently used to try and get the resources for their projects.

But according to statistics released recently by the company, the Games category, which also includes board and card-based initiatives, just 33 percent of the projects manage to reach their monetary goals and get funded.

This is the lowest percentage on Kickstarter and might make some potential backers less interested to invest in video games.

The average success rate on Kickstarter currently stands at 44 percent and it was previously believed that the game average stood at 43%, bigger than that for tech, publishing or fashion.

There are close to 700 game-related campaigns of the series and most of them were asking for less than 100,000 dollars (79,655 Euro).

Until now video game projects linked to Double Fine, inXile Entertainment and Harebrained Schemes have been funded via Kickstarter.
