It works fine even if it doesn't make contact with a solid surface

Mice got their names from how they “scurry” on desks or tables and have a cable that looks like a small tail, but things have changed so much that one has to wonder if there is anything besides tradition that sustains that moniker.

The Ego! Smartmouse posted on Kickstarter is exhibit A: a wireless mouse that not only lacks the “tail,” but also does not “scurry” unless owners wish it so.

The Ego! Can easily be lifted and used on a PC without any unfortunate effects. It can even behave like a portable game controller in that instance.

In fact, it has a 400 MHz ARM-9 microcontroller and up to 4 GB of integrated memory, plus an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and an optical mouse sensor.

An integrated Bluetooth chip ensures wireless connectivity.

The Ego! Smartmouse Kickstarter project needs £20,000 / $30,000 / 23,000 Euro to become a selling product. Bids have already reached £15,824 / $23,800 / 18,300 Euro, and with 36 days to go we are sure the money acquired will be more than enough.
