Brian Fargo, who is the chief executive officer at inXile and one of Interplay’s founders, announces that he is thinking about launching a Kickstarter campaign to gather the funds needed to create a sequel for the Wasteland role-playing gamer that he made in 1988.

Wasteland is best known for serving as the basis for the popular Fallout series, which has managed to become a huge success after the move to a 3D world, made with the third full game developed by Bethesda and continued in the Obsidian-made New Vegas spin-off.

Fargo says that at the moment he does not have a clear budget for the game and that it might cost more than 1 million dollars to produce (762,000 Euro), which is an ambitious but not impossible sum to raise.

The Wasteland sequel would stay close to the roots of the franchise and crowdfunding would give the development team gathered by Fargo the freedom to create an experience that appeals to long-term fans rather than the requirements of a publisher.
