Polish developer IMGN.PRO has just announced their work in progress game Kholat will be launched on April 24. The official announcement was made today, February 2, which marks 56 years since the tragic events that the game draws inspiration from.

The unexplained events that ended with the mysterious death of nine Russian students during their attempt to climb a peak in the Ural Mountains on the east shoulder of Kholat Syakhl are known as Dyatlov Pass Incident.

A new trailer that shows the chronological course of events, which serve as main inspiration for the Polish developers, has been released as well.

Kholat is an exploration game with strong horror elements, which will be narrated by well-known actor Sean Bean. The game will be available on PC and Mac on the same date and those who want to pre-order Kholat can already do so via the developer website.

According to IMGN.PRO, the game’s website will be updated to include all the platforms on which Kholat will be available. They also confirmed that a boxed version of the game will be launched as well, and revealed its cover.

Kholat has yet to be Greenlit on Steam

The game is now listed on Steam in the Greenlight section, which means that if it gets enough votes, it will be released on Valve’s digital distribution store.

For the time being, the game can only be purchased through developer’s website and it will be available for download from a third-party retailer as well (Green Man Gaming).

“The last few months of our work were very intense which resulted in the alpha version of the game. The current state of progress has also allowed us to fine tune the release date. We match the anniversary of Dyatlov Pass Incident with our new trailer, which also happens to be the best opportunity for the official announcement,” said Łukasz Kubiak, IMGN.PRO co-owner.
