Khloe Kardashian has often been criticized and picked on for her weight but, as she puts it in her interview with the June 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, people wouldn’t say these things if they didn’t always compare her to sisters Kim and Kourtney, who are smaller.

Khloe has recently lost a few pounds but, she insists, she feels just as pretty when she’s curvier than usual.

Being always in the spotlight and having a naturally curvy figure taught her that she could never compare herself to other women in the industry.

She knows now that she must strive for health and happiness, not to fit to a certain standard.

“I probably thought I was prettier before I entered the spotlight because being compared to somebody else every day does sort of beat up your spirit and soul. It’s made me stronger. I’ve gained another level of confidence,” she says.

“I’ve always known that I’m not Kim and I’m not Kourtney – I’ve always been OK with that. I don’t care what size I am; I care about how I look. If my jeans are tight and I have a little muffin top, then OK, I have to cut down on the carbs. I don’t expect to be a size 2 and nor do I want to be. I’m 5ft 10ins and I like being curvy,” Khloe adds.

She recalls how people lashed at her when she first broke on the scene on the Kardashian reality show: she was heavier at the time so, because she wanted to look her best, she went on a diet before shooting started.

Khloe says she was 30 pounds (13.6 kg) thinner when shooting began but she still got a lot of flak for being the fat one of the lot.

“I thought, ‘Oh, my gosh, if I'm not good enough now...’ And that's when something clicked in my brain: I have to do whatever is good for me... I feel that I'm healthier [now], but I don't think I'm prettier thinner,” she says.

“I understand why so many people in this industry have eating disorders or want plastic surgery, and I'm proud I've done things the healthy way,” Khloe adds.

Her mother and manager (momager) Kris Jenner is also one of the many who constantly point out to her that she’s gained weight.

Khloe says she understands where Kris is coming from when she does that (because that’s the manager in her speaking), but it’s determined her not to put her kids through the same, when the day comes to have them.
