Not trackpad update, man, keyboard update. Focus on this for now and wait for Apple to confirm all the multitouch rumors. Yes, it seems that Apple is addressing an issue where the first key press may be ignored, if the laptop falls
asleep (idle). MacBook users should note that the firmware upgrade will also install an application in the utilities folder. The app itself has you going through a few steps, so be careful.

Apple says that "this MacBook and MacBook Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle." In typical Apple fashion, the company doesn't dish out all the aspects surrounding the update at first, only adding that "it also addresses some other issues."

As most of you Mac owners out there should already know, installation of MacBook and MacBook Pro Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 requires that you have already upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5.2.

The MacBook and MacBook Pro Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 only supports the following products, so take a good look at the list below and see if you can spot your configuration:

- MacBook (Late 2006)
- MacBook (Mid 2007)
- MacBook (Late 2007)
- MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo)
- MacBook Pro (Mid 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz)
- MacBook Pro (Late 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz)

Now, about that application. You'll most likely want to know when the keyboard firmware actually kicks in, so MacBook users should also note that the app installs in the Utilities folder under the name of "Built-in Keyboard Firmware Update." The application will automatically open as soon as the downloading process ends. Once open, users must follow the instructions within the application to complete the update.

If you decide to stop the process due to distractions, like your wife yelling at you to wash the damn' dishes, you could also double-click the updater in the Utilities folder at a later time, and run it manually.
