The Tony Stewart-Kevin Ward Jr. debacle is far from being over. As more witnesses are coming forward to give their accounts on what happened that night, more and more people are rallying against Tony Stewart and pointing a blaming finger at him for running over Kevin Ward Jr. Among them, Ward's father.

Kevin Ward Sr. has opened up for the first time since the terrible accident took place and he is quoted by the NY Post that he fails to understand how a skilled driver such as Stewart was the only one on the track who somehow managed to hit his son.

“Tony Stewart was the best damn driver by far on the track that night. Why he had to go up as high as he did and hog my son, there’s no reason for it,” Ward Sr. said, raising a valid point, since Stewart is a three-time NASCAR champion and is believed to be very handy behind the wheel.

In the video of the crash, several cars successfully dodge Ward who exits his racer and walks down the track to single Stewart out, but when Tony's car goes by, it manages to scrape him with the rear end and violently hit him.

Ward's dad didn't see the exact moment when his son was hit by Stewart's car, but he's still wondering how the other racers managed to avoid Ward and Stewart did not. “Apparently, Tony Stewart was the only one driving out there who didn’t see him,” Ward Sr. bitterly adds.

With surprising clarity in his thinking, something that is hard to achieve when a member of your own family in involved in a deadly crash, the mourning father asks himself rhetorically “The one person that knows what happened that night is possibly facing 10 years in prison. Is he going to say what he done?”

The father continues his telling of the story with how, right after the crash, he got into a four-wheeler, and eagerly awaited for his son in an area of the track where the damaged cars are taken, but he never came. He says that he was stopped shortly by track personnel as an ambulance rushed by.

At that moment, Ward Sr. realized “it was pretty serious. The officials still weren’t letting us on the track.”

The police are still baffled by this case, as much as fans are, and since there is only one recording of the incident, officers are urging people in the stands that might have filmed the incident from a different angle to come forward and aid the investigation.

A new point that has been raised since the investigation has begun is why Stewart was traveling at such a great speed when the yellow flag was waving at the time and all other traffic had slowed. An answer will be provided at the end of the investigation when Stewart finds out if he is going to face any criminal charges.

In the meantime, a wake for Kevin Ward Jr. was organized yesterday at a funeral home in Boonville, not very far from Canandaigua track where the accident took place. The funeral is scheduled for today.
