Kevin Federline, former dancer and husband of Britney Spears, is almost down to his former figure, thanks to a stint on Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp. His ballooning weight has been subject to countless jokes online, many taking his moniker of K-Fed and turning it into the obvious pun K-Fat. A now-slimmer Federline talked to Bonnie Hunt about what led to overeating, as the Daily Mail can confirm.

This is not the first time that the former dancer and rapper says it was depression that led him to seek comfort in food. However, in this candid interview, the star reveals that the lack of activity also contributed to a great extent, as it made it easier for him to overindulge in unhealthy food. When he saw a paparazzi shot of himself by the pool a few months back, he realized time had come to make a change, he also explained.

“That was a breaking point for me. I was in Miami, I didn’t even know paparazzi were up in the hotel – I was out at the pool with the kids. A week later, I see that picture and my Mom’s telling me I’m at an unhealthy weight. I drank 12 to 24 cans of soda a day – not diet. That was all that I drank. That was my coffee, that was my candy – that was everything. I ate pizza and macaroni cheese. The combination of the two just added up real fast,” Federline confessed in the televised interview.

A bad diet was not the only one responsible for his ballooning weight, though. “Anybody who goes through a divorce is obviously going to be depressed. Everybody saw how I got divorced, it just wasn’t a good situation for me. It was tough to watch a person that you love go through all the things [Spears] was going through. That was just the beginning of it. I hit 30 years old, I stopped dancing, I hadn’t been dancing for years, I started eating, I’m sitting around on the couch playing with the kids here and there, getting lazier and lazier and getting fatter and fatter and fatter,” the former rapper explained.

Getting so much flack in the media for his weight certainly did not make things any easier. However, before Spears filed for divorce, Kevin had no problem with the criticism he was being showered with on a daily basis, he said in the same interview. Because he was so head over heels in love with the pop star, he couldn’t care less about what the tabloids were saying – but all that changed once the attacks started to be based on his weight.
