14 DAY TRIAL // Kevin Bacon is a handsome man, according to his fans. Even if he’s not exactly your cup of tea, which is ok, you can’t but admit that Kevin Bacon is a slender, very fit 59-year-old man. Or was, if we’re to believe his most recent Instagram photo.
You can see it above, but it’s also available with his latest Instagram post, which only announces that he’s in the UK. He’s probably working on a new project, but whatever it is, we can’t know yet because his IMDB page makes no mention of it.
Kevin Bacon is virtually unrecognizable
If you’re not familiar with Bacon’s work, you might have trouble recognizing him in the chubby man pictured above. If you are, you can probably do so by his smile, but even so, the transformation is downright shocking.
It seems that the once-slender and very fit actor has ballooned overnight. And he looks bloated too.
Before you freak out, like many of his fans already did the instant they saw this photo online and they assumed either that he’d “let himself go” or that something worse had happened, consider this: chances are this is just makeup and facial prosthetics.
For instance, the second Instagram photo below was posted by Bacon one week ago and it purported to have been taken the night before. There’s no other explanation for going from Kevin Bacon as we knew him to this chubbier version within the space of one week, even if he went out of his way to get the job done.
That would include eating in his sleep.
Movie makeup can do wonders
So there can be no other reasonable explanation for the shocking “transformation” pic than that Kevin benefitted from and is showing off the results of many hours in the makeup chair, where he had makeup and facial prosthetics applied.
In reality, movie makeup can do wonders, making a known face fatter or older to the point of being unrecognizable. Bacon’s particularly stands out because he’s taken this photo from up close and in natural lighting, and you can still barely see where his real face begins and where the prosthetics end.
A tell-tale sign is on the chin, where the makeup artist didn’t completely blend in where the prosthetic creating the illusion of double chin is attached.
Since Bacon doesn’t have any projects in production right now (“The Following” is on hiatus, awaiting renewal, and upcoming movies “6 Miranda Drive” and “Black Mass” are listed as completed on his IMDB page), odds are he’s working on a surprise cameo or appearance.
