3 decades after the film came out, actor still makes a pretty credible rebel

To mark the 30th anniversary of “Footloose,” the cult classic about a rebel boy who moves to a small town where rock music and dancing are banned, Kevin Bacon has recreated two of the most iconic scenes in the movie the other night on Jimmy Fallon.

In doing so, he delivered the most epic entrance on the show ever. You can see it in full above.

Embedded below is the warehouse scene that inspired the first part of the routine above. The second part was based on the final dance scene.

Clearly, a stunt double was used for some of the most risky moves, particularly the scene in the smoke-filled room. You can’t really see Bacon’s face in it and that’s probably on purpose, because that’s not him.

He still makes for a pretty credible rebel, though.

In the original film, Bacon played the role of Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves from Chicago to a small town and is in for the cultural shock of his life when he finds out the small community has outlawed rock music and all kinds of dancing.

“Footloose” is the classic story of teenage rebellion, managing to mix together dancing and good acting performances. If you’re a fan of the classic (it was remade in 2011, but that one didn’t fare too well with critics and audiences), you will definitely love Bacon’s entrance the other night.
