The actress says she wants to be hones with women

In a moment that is becoming increasingly rare in Hollywood these days, actress Kerry Washington has gone on the record to admit that her famous Allure Magazine cover which boasted to be makeup-free actually featured her with “some makeup.”

Washington made headline news earlier this week and was praised on television and the media for her courage to do a “no-makeup” cover on a magazine at a moment when not only extensive use of makeup but also extreme Photoshop is being used to give women a false image of what perfection should look like.

The actress was honest about the cover, told women she wasn't really "makeup-free"

The actress went on The View yesterday and make the shocking confession that the magazine would not tell its readers, that she had “some makeup on.” In hindsight, the magazine never stated that Kerry was makeup-free, but many outlets rushed to report that she posed without any makeup on, and one thing quickly led to another and the cover became known as the “no-makeup” cover.

When The View co-host Rosie Perez commended Kerry for her bravery of posing in such a way, the actress interjected and set the record straight, “I do have some makeup on. I want to be honest because I think it is unfair when we tell women they should look like something that is not real. So I do have some makeup on. Just enough.”

Looking at the cover, it becomes painfully evident that Kerry wears at least some subtle lipstick and some foundation, which, by her definition, should be “just enough” to fool you into thinking that she was natural.

The actress reveals that she struggles with high standards herself, just like all other women out there who “want to be perfect,” but she cautions that people shouldn't take everything as is, that they should question some of the things presented to them.

Kerry also warns women not to emulate everything her character Olivia Wilde does and says in real life

She also made a point to tell the women watching the show that they shouldn't aspire to be just like her famous character in the TV series Scandal, Olivia Pope. She warns people that Olivia too has flaws like sleeping with married men, drinking wine and eating popcorn as a steady diet, all of which could lead to an unhealthy lifestyle.

It's nice to see a big Hollywood actress like Kerry Washington be so down to Earth, but also concerned with breaking the taboos of the entertainment industry and offering an honest look behind the spotlight and the glamour people see on TV and in the media.
