Hardware manufacturer Keomo is getting ready to ship in May its first navigation system (pictured) and also a solar-powered GPS receiver. Navi-tainment PND (Personal Navigation Device) is not only a GPS navigation unit but also a multimedia player. This "pseudo media player" can handle videos
and eBooks as well as the more typical music and photo support.

The Smart2Go on-board navigation software runs maps provided by Navteq. It comes with regional maps but if you pay 40 Euros (53$) more you can get the version that includes all the maps of Western Europe. Here are some specs for the new Keomo GPS navigation system: 3.5 inch TFT LCD QVGA display, ARM9 core Samsung 300MHz processor, SDRAM: 64 MB, NAND Flash: 32 MB, OS: Windows CE 4.2, GPS: SirF Star III chip set. It only measures 20mm (0.8 inches). The device retails for 179 Euros ($230).
The snappily-named Keomo Solar Nemerix 16 Bluetooth GPS is the first ever data-logger that uses solar energy. It's equipped with a high fidelity solar panel through which the device automatically charges itself when capturing sunlight. Thanks to the built-in data logger feature, you can plan routes in advance or even during the course of the event. It's powered by a 16 channels Nemerix chispet and can store up to 50.000 waypoints. The internal rechargeable battery lasts up to 100 hours (probably the longest operating and stand-by time available on a GPS receiver today, they reckon). Under favorable weather conditions, the Keomo Bluetooth GPS receiver can be left permanently in standby mode. This one retails for a few cents short of 110 Euros (146$).
