No price, no date, no nothing...

Kenwood has just announced two brand new media players from its already popular Media Keg series. The new comers were immediately codenamed M2GD55/M1GD55 and M2GD50/M1GD50. Both portable devices were given decent internal memory capacities of 1GB, 2GB respectively. They feature the same rather old-fashioned monochrome screen display which is said to add a serious pattern to the full design concept.

As for the player's capabilities, both M2GD55/M1GD55 and M2GD50/M1GD50 offer support for the common audio file formats available on the market, such as MP3 and WMA. Not to mention they feature full compatibility with USB 2.0.

However, they allow the user to suck enough juice, as their internal lithium ion batteries were highly rated to last up to 21 hours of continuous playback. Size is also a bonus, when it comes to Kenwood's new baby players. They are said to sport a convenient dimension of about 38 x 92.5 x 12.5, weighting about 38 grams a pop.

Four lines of text can be displayed on the monochrome OLED, which looks very similar to Panasonic D-Snap SV-SD95ON. Fortunately, the manufacturers even added a pair of Kenwood canal phones and will go on sale in Japan, starting next month in various color versions.

Not to mention they even offer language support for Japanese, English, French, Italian, Dutch and Spanish. There are also 6 equalizer modes, if the owner feels he should do some sound performance improvements.

All in all, they seem to be pretty fine players, given the compatibilities and the price tag. However, there is a long way to go if they want to compete with the big names in the industry that specialize in such devices.

Unfortunately, if you really want to buy one of these babies, you will have to wait some more, since for the moment, there is no official news regarding the pricing and availability.
