The
PlayStation Portable continues to be the best sold individual model gaming console on the Japanese market while the Nintendo DS line is still the best selling overall. The PSP has seen sales go up when compared with last week, going from over 32,000 units to 37,338 this week, mainly on the strength of recent releases for the platform.
The Nintendo Wii home console climbed up one place in the hardware chart, displacing the PlayStation 3, with sales going up from 32,130 to 36,241. The PS3 from Sony, meanwhile, has seen its share of the market reduced by about one sixth, reaching a low of 27,763.
The DSi LL, the newest version of the handheld and the one featuring the bigger screen, has seen sales mostly staying at the level of 24,605 with the DSi coming close on its heels and with the DS Lite continuing to sell about 5,000 units during one week. The Xbox 360 from Microsoft continues to sell marginally better than the PlayStation 2 from Sony and the PSP Go.
First spot in the videogame chart has been occupied by a fresh action game, Kenka Bancho 4: Ichinen Sensou from Spike for the PlayStation Portable. It managed to sell 72,000 units in its first week and has proven to be more attractive to gamers than Super Robot Taisen OG: Saga Endless Frontier Exceed from Namco Bandai for the Nintendo DS, also a fresh release but moving just 65,000 copies. Last week's best seller
Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition from Capcom for the PlayStation 3 is this week in third place, selling 48,000 units.
New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii has also lost one place, with sales of 46,000 units, God Eater, another top performer, taking fifth place with sales of 45,000 copies. Two new entries also tried hard to break the first five, with Hot Shots Tennis Portable from Sony for the PSP coming in at six and with Shiren the Wanderer 4: Kami no Hitomi to Akuma no Heso at seven.
