Ken and Ryu Fighting M. Byson on Nintendo Wii?

- Virtual Console or stand-alone disc?

By: Robert Matei, Gaming News Editor

If you are a lucky Nintendo Wii owner, this might be good news for you, you probably would want some more games available on Nintendo's
Virtual Console.

An interesting material on 1up suggests that Street Fighter II could come on the Wii. They report that the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has recently rated Street Fighter II: The World Warrior for Wii. This could mean two things: either Capcom is planning to release a stand-alone Wii Street Fighter game, or this title will be available on the Virtual Console.

If you were to ask me, the second option is much more likely, taking into consideration that not many would buy a stand-alone Street Fighter game. I wouldn't and I'm a Street Fighter fan, there's no point in paying some US$ 50 for a 1990's game.

1up also reveals that there are some Virtual Console games pending in ESRB's database, games which still lack rating. If all goes well, you will see available on the Virtual Console Kirby's Adventure, Kid Icarus, PilotWings and Punch-OUt to name but a few.

Street Fighter: The World Warrior was released back in 1992, and of course Capcom is responsible for it. The game centers around two main characters, the American Ken and the Japanese Ryu, who face Major Byson. The game features a line-up of eight characters, and players are required to choose one and then go and fight all around the world.

Street Fighter II is already available on many platforms including the Xbox 360, PlayStation to name but the most recent ones. This is what probably makes it one of the most popular games in the world.
