Bruce Willis passed on doing the third “Expendables” movie and, according to Deadline, so did Nicolas Cage. The latter is being replaced by none other than Kelsey Grammer.

The movie-oriented publication reports that the deal is not set in stone yet but all signs point to it happening.

Grammer will play Bonaparte, one of the good guys, who comes to help Stallone’s character and his team on their most recent mission.

“While Grammer was long identified for playing the mild-mannered shrink-turned-radio host Dr. Frasier Crane, he has transformed into a Hollywood tough guy. Most of that came from him playing a ferocious powerbroker in the recently canceled Starz series Boss. Michael Bay was a fan of that show, which led to Grammer being cast as the villain in Transformers: Age Of Extinction,” Deadline notes.

Now that he’s managed to get Bay’s attention, it seems that other directors are considering Grammer for more physical roles.

“The Expendables 3” stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell.

It is scheduled for an August 2014 theatrical release.
