Kelly Preston and husband John Travolta were faced with a parent's worst nightmare when their 16-year-old son Jett died in 2009. Now, with a new member added to the family – son Benjamin – Kelly says she couldn't be happier, and she believes she has Scientology to thank for that.

In a new candid interview, the star opens up about her troubled life and how she's found her greatest purpose in life in her children with John, the Daily Mail informs.

People might say a lot of bad things about the Church of Scientology, but she can't think of a single one.

On the contrary, not only did it help her with all three births and with raising 3 kids, but it also offered her the support she needed so badly when she lost Jett.

Scientology also helped Kelly remove all destructive habits from her life, so today she no longer smokes, drinks or does drugs.

“People were so beautiful – so, so extraordinary from all over the world. Everybody grieves in their own way. I felt at times like I was drowning. It felt like a sea of wet blankets,” Kelly says in the interview about the aftermath of Jett's death.

“And then I just peeled them off, layer by layer, so that I can now say, 'I want to live. I love life. My life is beautiful and amazing.' In Scientology, we have what's called 'auditing,' and that helps you to address things in your life and to strip them away,” the actress further explains.

She goes into the details of this procedure and compares it to “spiritual enlightenment.”

“It helps rid the mind of painful experience completely. Through that, the people at my church literally held my hand and got me through... I will forever be indebted. You never forget, but I feel like the weight of the world was lifted,” Kelly adds.

Losing a child is something no parent should ever get to experience but Kelly is living proof that life is possible even after such a major tragedy.

Not only that, but you can actually get to enjoy life again, even if it seems inconceivable at first, she says.
