14 DAY TRIAL // Though she did break in the spotlight thanks to her appearance on the VH1 show on her family, Kelly Osbourne hates it when people think and say that everything she accomplishes is due to her famous mother and father.
Kelly is the daughter of iconic rocker Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon, who has acted as both Ozzy’s manager and judge on countless popular television programs.
Understandably, one may be excused if one believes Kelly got a helping hand in her career, both in music, television and, as of late, film.
While the star is not denying that her career did receive a boost by the very Osbourne name, she is of the opinion people shouldn’t judge her solely based on that, as she says in a recent interview cited by Music Rooms.
In fact, being labeled a celebrity kid is perhaps the biggest offense one can bring to the young star, because she hates the lot of them.
“I think for me it’s just about not being classified as a ‘celeb daughter.’ A lot of them make me sick – so many of them walk around with such a bratty sense of entitlement, and then people start thinking that all celebrity children are like that,” she says.
“So I hate being lumped in with that crowd of girls,” Kelly adds.
Granted, she could easily just take what comes her way without as much as asking and be happy at that. Instead, she chooses to do something for herself and by herself and, ironically enough, that only brings more criticism her way.
“When you’re in this position, it’s easy to be lazy and live off your parents, but it makes it hard for me to do something with my life, because I’m judged whatever I do,” Kelly says.
“Anytime I achieve anything on my own, people will automatically assume it’s because of my parents. I’m not victimizing myself because life is hard in general and I know that I do have a fantastic one,” the star adds.
Kelly makes a very valid point as regards the kind of criticism she’s showered with: her attempt at getting a music career off the ground failed and was consequently accompanied by severe thrashing in the media.
Right now, Kelly is working on a new film called “Should Have Been Romeo.” She put an appearance at the 2010 Emmy Awards on Sunday night, looking downright stunning in a tight-fitting black gown.
