Kelly Clarkson Sang Live at the Obama Inauguration 2013

As it turns out, Beyonce might have mimed her way through the National Anthem at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, word online has it. Even if she did, one of the other performers, Kelly Clarkson, sang live from start to finish.

Above is her rendition of “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” which was not lip-synced to a pre-recorded track, a rep for the Marine Corps Band says for TMZ.

As for why Beyonce decided at the last minute to go for the studio version instead of singing live, the rep insists he’s just as much in the dark about it as we are.

“We all know Beyonce can sing... We don’t know why she chose to use the pre-recorded track,” he says.

Nonetheless, as we reported earlier today, singing to a pre-recorded track on such a huge event is not exactly unheard of.
