Developer Callpod has released Keeper Lite for Mac OS X, a reliable security app now available for just 5 bucks from Apple’s Mac App Store.

Aimed at protecting secret information, the new app allows Mac users to store and access their passwords and other types of data, such as email accounts, bank accounts, user names, website information etc.

Callpod acknowledges that, “Every day hackers break into people's lives and steal important personal or financial information.”

“A proven method for preventing intrusions is to have different passwords on each computer or website and to change them frequently,” the company claims.

Their tool enables users to avoid having to do that. And it does so using 128-bit AES security, even via the 5 dollar Lite version of Callpod’s premium software which was specifically designed to run on Macs.

"Priced at only $4.99, we wanted Mac users to have access to additional security for protecting their most sensitive and secret information on their Apple computers," stated Darren Guccione, CEO of Keeper's creator, Callpod, Inc.

Keeper Premium, the full-featured version of the security software, provides secure and wireless information synchronization between mobile devices and computers, as well as unlimited cloud storage and backup service.

Using the ‘pro’ version of Keeper, customers can store information online in what Callpod calls the “Cloud Security Vault.” Keeper Premium costs $29.99 for a one year license.

According to its makers, Keeper has over 4.5 million users registered so far. Found in the iTunes Utilities category, it is already one of the most downloaded Mac apps, Callpod claims.

The developer is also eager to note that Keeper Lite has been approved by the U.S. Government and that it supports the protection of “top secret information.”

Keeper Lite requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later and is available via the link below.
