Google Earth has been a great tool for keeping track with various expeditions and experiments. Google is now providing a way of following Liquid Robotics' four wave-powered robotic gliders in their voyage in the Pacific ocean.

The wave gliders are designed to travel huge distances on the ocean without requiring to refuel or maintenance. If everything goes according to plan, the robots will travel some 25,000 miles, 40,000 km, in 300 days and will set a record for the longest journey completed by an unmanned vehicle.

The robots have just started their journey and you can keep up in Google Earth via the KML file provided. As new discoveries are made, you'll be updated and the measurements the robots will undertake will be made public when interesting data is found.
