The question these days is “what ever happened to Keanu Reeves.” People still remember that in the ‘90s he was hot property and even in the noughties studios were seeking him out to do movies such as “The Matrix” trilogy.

But a series of flops and indie films meant that studios didn't come knocking on his door for big parts in Hollywood blockbusters. The actor opens up about his slow decline from mainstream film in an interview with Moviephone.

“I always wanted to play Wolverine. But I didn't get that. And they have a great Wolverine now. I always wanted to play The Dark Knight. But I didn't get that one. They've had some great Batmans,” Keanu says with a sigh.

Keanu didn't have to sit out of making movies, it's just that his last projects have all performed poorly at the box office. Films like “Man of Tai Chi” and “47 Ronin” underwhelmed and did nothing to improve on his ratings in Hollywood. But there is hope for him yet.

Critics are buzzing over Keanu's latest project, “John Wick,” and there are also numerous rumors that Keanu could be cast as Doctor Strange in Marvel newest tentpole franchise. Of course, there are other famous names on the list, but if Keanu could score that part, it could seriously bring him back to the fame he rightly deserves.
