While most celebrities kicked off the new year without a care in the world, pop star Ke$ha is doing it by choosing to turn her life around and make 2014 a healthiest, better year. She has admitted herself to rehab for an eating disorder.

In a short statement released to TMZ, which, incidentally, comes shortly after the release of her brand new music video, for “Dirty Love,” Ke$ha says she’s decided to get help for her problems because she’s always preached to her fans love and acceptance of the self.

“I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder... to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am,” she says.

She doesn’t offer more details as to her problem but, considering she’s lost a lot of weight in recent months in what many assumed was a health kick, voices are now linking the weight loss to her admission of an eating disorder and saying she might have developed it out of a desire to be even skinnier faster.

TMZ reports that Ke$ha’s most likely location for the next month is the Timberline Knolls center near Chicago, which is the same facility where Demi Lovato went to when she too was struggling with an eating disorder – and several other problems on the side, drug abuse included.

Back on the topic of Ke$ha’s health, this is actually the first time that she makes headlines for it. She did admit before to some very unusual and eyebrow raising habits, like that she once drank her own pee out of curiosity and enjoying a glass or two of alcohol in the morning, but she never even as much as hinted about a problem with food.

When she started losing weight, many believed it was because she’d overhauled her diet (i.e. stopped eating junk food and drinking so much) and started hitting the gym. Not even when she started getting visibly thinner and thinner did the tabs suspect an eating disorder, though they’re the first to cry foul whenever a star loses a lot of weight.

Whichever her problems behind closed doors, we’re sure Ke$ha’s fans are rooting for her and wishing her all the best.
