A new update has been released for Kdenlive

Kdenlive is one of the few free multi-track video editors for Linux that supports DV, AVCHD and HDV editing. The developers have reminded the community once more that a new major version has been released, 15.04.0, and that the project is now part of the KDE Applications suite.

The KDE project was recently split into KDE Applications, KDE Framework, and KDE Plasma, which means that the old KDE SC is no more. Users will still find KDE in the old formula in some of the distros, but most of Linux operating systems that made use of KDE are advancing to the new one. Besides some of the important changes that this modification entails, the KDE project also received a few applications, such as Kdenlive.

Make no mistake about it, Kdenlive is not a young application at all. It's been around for quite some time, but it wasn't updated all that often. Now Kdenlive being a part of KDE Applications means that we'll be seeing a lot more of it. Developers need to make updates all the time in order to keep up with the rest of the projects.

Kdenlive 15.04.0 is a big update

The 15.04 branch was focused more on the transition to Qt5/KF5, which was quite difficult, but the next major release should be much more interesting, and it will be here in just four months.

"We stick to KDE Applications release schedule, which means one bugfix release every month, one feature improved version every four months. That's a big change from the previous random release every year or so. This is possible because the KDE team takes care of the release, not our small dev team, so a big thank you to KDE. While Kdenlive 15.04.0 is mostly a Qt5/KF5 port, we have many new features/improvements in preparation for the 15.08.0 release," wrote the developers of Kdenlive.
