14 DAY TRIAL // Katy Perry may be engaged to her current beau John Mayer, if we’re to believe reports now making the rounds online. On Valentine’s Day, the star flashed a heart-shaped ruby ring and, as expected, it set tongues wagging about whether she’s getting ready to walk down the aisle again.
If she is, neither she nor her fiancé are saying anything on their respective Twitter feeds.
This, in turn, means that the tabloids will keep on speculating until they come out with a denial or, best case scenario, a confirmation.
Us Weekly has all the details on the superb ring, as well as a clear photo of it.
“To celebrate Valentine's Day with boyfriend John Mayer, the fun-loving pop star wore a festive red and white Alice by Temperley dress. Perry accessorized with a one-of-a-kind, heart-shaped ruby ring by Santa Barbara-based jeweler and designer Daniel Gibbings,” the publication says.
Heat World claims to have it on good authority that the ring isn’t an engagement one, but close enough.
Moreover, it says Katy was also wearing it at the 2013 Grammy Awards though, to be honest, few actually paid attention to her hands on that occasion.
“The ring is a commitment ring to prove to Katy that serial dater John is a changed man. The 14-carat stunner came from Santa Barbara-based jeweler Daniel Gibbings, and was reportedly bought recently in California for a massive £30,000 [$46,563 / €34,805],” the British tab writes.
This is the second time Katy and John are dating; the first time, they only lasted a couple of months before breaking up, presumably because of the hectic schedule each had to stick to.
Before John, Katy was married to comedian Russell Brand. Mayer, on the other hand, had the reputation of the biggest womanizer in Hollywood, his long list of conquests including, among others, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
