14 DAY TRIAL // Singer Katy Perry was recently a guest on Sesame Street, where she performed a version of her hit “Hot N Cold” with Elmo for an upcoming segment. Right now, parents are absolutely fuming over her choice for an outfit.
In the clip, which was uploaded on YouTube on the official Sesame Street channel, but which air on TV (or was supposed to) on New Year’s Eve, Katy sings a cleaned-up version of her song.
Her outfit consists of a green mini dress, cut low on the chest and not even coming close to her knees. However, it’s the cleavage that parents are incredibly upset by, as TMZ can confirm.
Since the video was posted on YouTube, it attracted countless negative comments, with many parents saying the singer is not suitably dressed for a children’s program.
Of course, some of the comments are too crude to be reproduced in writing, but what they’re basically saying is that, if she knew she would appear on a children’s program, Katy should have left her cleavage at home.
“You can practically see her [breasts]. That’s some wonderful children’s programming,” one parent says. “They’re gonna have to rename it cleavage avenue,” another adds, while others even go to such lengths as to call Katy names.
Because of the outrage, word has it the network has decided not to air the Katy Perry segment as scheduled – but the video remains online if parents still want to see it.
“The song made its way to YouTube Monday and racked up nearly a million views. But some parents started complaining her cleavage was too front and center. We’ve learned producers have decided not to air the song on the show,” TMZ reports.
Of course, there are also those who say that those “offended” by Katy’s cleavage need to get a life or simply find something truly offensive to be, well, offended about.
Some of those saying these things are not even fans of Katy’s music, saying they’re commenting only because they’re outraged by how easy it’s for some to cause a fuss over nothing.
In all fairness, as TMZ notes and, most importantly, as can be seen at first sight, Katy Perry is actually covered up, because the dress also comes with a piece of flesh-colored fabric that goes up to her neck.
