Parents were upset when Katy Perry appeared on “Sesame Street” in what they considered a too revealing top. On SNL, the singer showed them what cleavage really means where she’s concerned.

As we also informed you a few days ago, parents complained about a sketch Perry did with Elmo for an upcoming episode of “Sesame Street,” which should have aired on New Year’s Eve.

According to them, the singer was showing too much skin for a children’s program. In other words, her cleavage was too dangerous to be included on the show.

Following the ban of her appearance, it was to be expected that Katy would fight back some way – and she did just that on a recent appearance on SNL, USA Today informs.

Wearing a daringly cut Elmo red t-shirt and a very good push-up bra, Katy bounced in (literally), making Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph gasp.

“Katy Perry did a little lampooning of last week’s Sesame Street brouhaha when she appeared as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live,” USA Today writes.

“She let her shirt do the talking,” the e-zine notes. That, and the other two characters in the sketch, of course.

“In a Bronx Beat sketch featuring host Amy Poehler and ex-castmember Maya Rudolph, Perry played a busty teen who’s been causing a lot of ‘hullabaloo’ at the local library due to her blossoming figure,” the same media outlet notes.

After a few more or less well-disguised praises (“Looks like this show is brought to you by the number 38 and the letter double D,” and “Look at Elmo, his head’s all stretched out!”) the three characters eventually touched on the controversy.

The conclusion was just one: girls shouldn’t be ashamed of their body and breasts are good because they feed babies.

In the case of the girl in the sketch, she should also know that she’s doing something good because her cleavage brings kids to the library, while books make them stay there.

Below is Katy Perry’s response to the recent controversy, in her quality as performing guest on Saturday Night Live. Enjoy.
