As any other major pop star out there, Katy Perry, being one of the best-selling pop acts of the moment, always travels with a strong entourage that includes, among others, bodyguards and minders. Security at her concerts must be even more impressive, but she also has watchers that no one else can see: angels.

She got a glimpse of one at one of her most recent shows, when a feather fell on her. She chooses to believe it was from an angel and not a costume, according to her Twitter.

“My favorite part of the night was when I was singing By the Grace of God & a little white feather (presumably from a costume) floated by... & it reminded me about the angels & how, maybe, they are still looking after me, helping me continue to put one foot in front of the other,” Katy writes.

Clearly, though she grew up to rebel against her strict upbringing, Katy is still deeply religious. She’s never denied that, come to think of it, not even when her mother denounced her “sleazy” stage costumes or when she (Katy) spoke with regret about being raised by parents that would not let her listen to any kind of music but the religious type.

For a while, Katy received a lot of attention for family issues, especially when it became clear that she and her parents weren’t on the same page as regards her career and the way she was presenting herself as an artist to the world.

To this day, her father, who is a preacher, is telling his congregation that they should pray for his daughter, because she is a “devil child” who has lost her way. Obviously, the biggest bone they have to pick with her is the fact that she seems to not shy away from using her body to get attention to her music.

They, on the other hand, aren’t exactly ashamed to use her name to get more people to see them during sermons throughout the country, so, at the end of the day, it’s probably a tie between the three of them.

Ironically, just on the day Katy was tweeting about the angels probably protecting her in concert, she was sued by a Christian hip-hop group from Saint Louis on the grounds that she ripped off a religious song called “Joyful Noise” for her hit track “Dark Horse,” which you’re probably hearing now all over the radio.

She’s yet to respond in any way to the allegations but, if they do turn out to be true, she’ll probably be hoping angels watch over her in court, not just on stage.
