As the release date for Katy Perry’s 3D concert movie, “Part of Me,” is nearing, the pop star has to answer increasingly more questions about why she chose to include footage of a more personal nature in it.

Below is a video of what she told Mario Lopez of Extra about the decision not to sidestep the question of her divorce from Russell Brand in the film.

Fans must already know that the film will also include references to the marriage and especially to the way Katy handled the pressure and sadness caused by her marriage falling apart.

She tells Mario she could not decide not to include all that because, if she did, her fans would know she was trying to keep things from them.

Truthfulness is very important to her and, in an age when everything we see is fabricated and, to a certain extent, fake, Katy wants to make sure she isn’t perceived as such.

In other words, she’s included her divorce in the film because she wants her fans to know her as she is, good and bad together.

“It was really important to me to have those hard-to-swallow moments in the film,” she says.

“It's somewhat the elephant in the room, and if I wouldn't have put it into the film people would have left and been like, 'Well she's trying to avoid that as if it never really happened,' and that's not the case at all,” the singer explains.

The entire issue is handled “delicately,” Katy assures those who might be tempted to think she’s using her personal drama to boost sales of her music and film.

In the same interview, Katy admits that, while the divorce broke her heart, she’s not swore off marriage yet.

“I don't rule out the idea. Of course not. I will always let love lead the way,” she says smiling.

Reports online claim that Russell wasn’t so happy when he heard of Katy’s intention, even pleading with her to take all the footage out because it should remain private, between the two of them. She denied his request.
