14 DAY TRIAL // Always a colorful presence both on the music scene and in public outings, 24-year-old singer Katy Perry can certainly make for a sizzling covergirl, as she proves in the latest issue of Esquire magazine. Accompanying the photoshoot is also a lengthy interview, in which Katy talks about anything and everything, from her dating habits to her music and public persona.
The first thing that the Esquire interviewer notes about Katy is that, as loud as she is onstage – in more ways than one –, she is an incredibly down to earth person in real life. She does not like to place that much emphasis on her body in her daily life as she does when she puts on a quirky outfit to perform, and her eyes are truly amazing. These are precisely the very things that the photoshoot accompanying the interview tries to play upon – and it does that almost to perfection, it has been said.
Speaking about her music, the “Hot N Cold” singer reveals to the magazine that she is still dreaming up funny ideas for her future performances, while she is writing more and more songs. Luckily, she says, she has a management team that is on the same wavelength as she is, so whatever performances she will put on soon are certain to both surprise and please fans to the maximum.
“I always wanted to suspend from the ceiling in a twirling banana. I’m going to be inside the banana. So the banana drops into a fruit bowl with the other sparkling, glorious fruit, and their tops pop off and dancers come out and help peel me out of the banana. I have a fascination with fruit.” Katy tells Esquire. As for her dreams when “she grows up,” the singer admits she would love to be as famous as Gwen Stefani or Madonna (both her idols), but is afraid such a thing is close to impossible. “I’d like to say I’d like to be as big as a Gwen or a Madonna, but I think those days of achieving that level are over. The media is bringing everybody down.” Perry explains.
