Katy Perry might be one of the hottest pop stars of the moment but, as far as she's concerned, it's not enough: she wants to break into film as well. This will happen very soon, a new report suggests.

Crossovers are not uncommon but, as it's common knowledge, they're rarely successful. Katy wants to be the exception to the rule, writes The Enquirer in the print edition (story via CB).

According to the tab, which cites unnamed but reportedly reliable sources, the pop star is bend on making a name for herself as an actress, and is already talking to people to make it happen.

“Even people who don’t know Katy’s music know her from her Proactiv ad campaign. With her photogenic face, producers are confident she’ll be able to make the jump from the recording studio to the big screen,” says a spy.

Producers are already competing to get Katy on their next project, but she's reportedly discussing the details with Kristen Wiig, whom she befriended when she hosted Saturday Night Live back in December.

“Katy is plotting a huge image and career makeover,” says the insider. Apparently, she wants to emerge from her broken marriage to Russell Brand a bigger star than she was when she married him.

“Coming off a painful divorce from Russell, she wants to start fresh. She feels like she’s reached her full potential as a musician. She is looking for new challenges and is begging Kristen to write a comedy for her,” the source explains.

Because she's so very determined to make a name for herself as a reputable actress, Katy is even willing to do roles that might be deemed controversial.

“Although Katy is a real-life preacher’s daughter, she’s not shy. She’s never had a problem showing off her ample assets,” the tipster says of the pop star's reported willingness to show skin on camera, if the role requires it.

For the time being, though, even assuming the above is accurate, Katy is not attached to any film project, except for her concert film, which is coming out in theaters in 3D on July 5 this year.
