Fans are probably not that accustomed to seeing Katy Perry on stage in anything but cartoon-inspired outfits, singing pure pop tunes. Last night on X Factor, she showed them just how versatile she can be if she sets her mind to it.

Dressed in a classic shirt with an untied bowtie, black flare pants and with a guitar in hand, Katy was set to impress the audience, judges and viewers of the British version of X Factor.

Her song of choice was the ballad about long lost young love “The One that Got Away,” and she actually managed to put such passion into it that she got even non-fans singing her praises in online communities.

What’s even more amazing, she only had two backup singers to accompany her and they let her carry the first half of the tune all by herself.

For those saying Perry is just another “studio pop star” (meaning that she is not a live singer), this should be enough to convince them that she’s on the right path to becoming an artist, voices online are saying.

Check out her performance above and see what you make of it. Do let us know what you think in the comments section below.
