14 DAY TRIAL // It's not Easter yet, but this story smells like Easter eggs left out in the sun for two days. Nonetheless, there are several publications standing by it, claiming it's real. It seems that it has reached Katy Perry's ears that Rihanna, a good friend, has gotten all chummy for her ex, John Mayer.
This comes as a particularly low blow for her since Rihanna was the one who kept telling her back in the day that Mayer was no good for her and she'll only end up in tears after him.
Heat Magazine claims that Rihanna, who is currently dating Drake and thought to be getting very serious with him, was spotted hanging out with Mayer at the Soho House in Los Angeles this week.
A source dishes out the details, “John and Rihanna appeared very friendly in a corner. [They shared a] lingering goodnight hug as John departed the lounge shortly after 11pm.”
After reporting on what happened at the bar, the source goes on to explain the effect this had on Katy: “It seems like such a low blow. Rihanna has been so negative about John, she's always told Katy he's not worth her tears.”
“So to find out that Ri was being all friendly with him is incredibly hurtful. Katy sees it as a betrayal,” the source continues.
It seems the friendship between the two singers only works if Katy is willing to let Rihanna have her way. Since lately that hasn't been the case, the Bajan beauty decided to impart a little vengeance and this came in the form of getting friendly with her recent ex-boyfriend.
“Rihanna has always been the dominant one in the friendship. Things only work if Katy lets her take charge. But lately it seems Katy hasn't been as accommodating, so that's caused some drama,” dished the insider.
“Katy's disgusted with her and is fed up with being hurt. This year is all about making tough choices that are best for her in the long run, even in they're painful. It's the last time she'll let Rihanna hurt her,” finally reveals the source.
While it's clear that something very bad happened between Katy and Mayer to cause such an abrupt split when things were headed towards matrimony, the rumor that Rihanna is doing all of this just to spite Katy is still a little hard to believe.
But then again, this is Hollywood, where tempers and stakes are high and anything can happen.
