14 DAY TRIAL // Katy Perry and John Mayer dated for 2 years on and off, and broke up right after Valentine’s Day 2014, just when rumors online that they might get engaged were starting to pick up. That seemed to be the end for them as a couple, but new photos indicate that 2015 could be the year when they finally manage to make the relationship work.
Over the weekend, the two stepped out on a date in Beverly Hills, with reports saying that they had such a good time together that Mayer spent the night and most of the following day at her house.
They tried to keep their rendezvous a secret but obviously failed.
Katy and John are reunited
The Daily Mail has the photos of the two walking into her house, and of Mayer emerging alone the next day, later in the afternoon.
The same media outlet reports that the two stepped out for a dinner date over at a friend’s house, arriving in separate cars. Whatever happened there reminded them of the good times they used to have when they were still a couple, so when the dinner party was over, they continued hanging out together at her home.
Mayer didn’t leave until the next day, at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon: unless they spent the entire night talking about unimportant stuff, it’s probably safe to assume that they have rekindled their romance.
People magazine also confirms that they were reunited over dinner, but their insider claims that the two singers are nothing but good friends. Apparently, they have “buried the hatchet” a very long time ago, and Katy is no longer interested in being in a serious relationship because she’s too focused on her career.
A troubled romance
When the first reports that Katy and John were an item emerged in 2012, everybody predicted that she would have her heart broken, because he was, at the time, one of the biggest players in showbiz and has a reputation of a serial cheater with a serious commitment problem.
With each month passing, the couple earned more supporters among fans, and the public opinion started shifting in their favor: maybe they weren’t such an ill-advised couple after all. This is when engagement rumors started picking up.
On their date on Valentine’s Day 2014, Katy was photographed wearing what looked very much like an engagement ring, which prompted talk that John had dropped to one knee and proposed to her on the most romantic day of the year.
Several days later, they broke up. Insiders familiar to the situation claimed that she had caught him cheating on her, but friends told the tabs that their hectic schedules had finally taken a toll on their love life, so they amicably decided to split.
If that was the real reason, it seems that they are now convinced they’ve found a way to make it work. So it’s probably ok now to brace ourselves for more of this:
