Katy Perry Is a Legend, Says Rihanna

Often criticized for her onstage persona and especially for her stage outfits, Rihanna has said before that it's more an act than who she really is in real life. In a new interview, she reveals the inspiration behind all the outrageousness.

Speaking with the latest issue of Glamour magazine, as cited by CapitalFM, Rihanna says she was amazed by Katy Perry's courage to be whoever she wanted to be when she first started in the industry.

She did not pay attention to what others were telling her she should / must do: she was herself and, because of it, she is a legend, Rihanna says with obvious admiration and respect.

“Katy is a legend. I love her. When I met her she was like a breath of fresh air,” Rihanna says in the interview.

“She was everything I wanted to be. Katy goes on the stage as she wants. She dresses as she prefers and says what she wants. Now I do it too,” she adds.

In the same interview, the Bajan beauty admits that she still regrets being famous when Chris Brown assaulted her, because she will have to live her entire life wondering what people say about their doomed relationship.

“I'm afraid I'll have to live with the gossip between me and Chris throughout my whole life,” Rihanna says.

Speaking of doomed relationships, just today, word got out in the press that Katy Perry, who happens to be a good friend of Rihanna's, got into an explosive argument with husband Russell Brand just before Christmas.

Because of it, they spent the holiday thousands of miles away, with Katy partying with friends on a beach in Hawaii and Russell in Cornwall, as we also informed you earlier today.

Unnamed sources close to the couple are telling the tabs that the fighting is getting worse with each day – and that a split could come any day now.
