Since the song is about “the one that got away” and the regret of not saying the right thing before it's too late, it was only to be expected to have a video about lost love.
Yet Katy took things even farther and makes them more dramatic.
She is now old, married to another man, but she can never stop thinking about her true love, the one she let get away from her and whom she can never get back.
The video ends with a touching tribute to true love, with a segment from Johnny Cash's “You Are My Sunshine”: the perfect finshing touch for a beautiful, emotional clip.
